Climate

Learning the academic curriculum occurs best when students sense that teachers and other school staff care about them, when students feel safe from bodily harm and free of verbal put-downs, disrespect, or harassment, and when teachers understand multiple intelligence and employ practices that meet student learning styles.  If students are given the opportunity to interact and learn from one another in a positive environment they will be much less to likely bully.  This section gives more information about how to create or enhance positive climates for learning by using the Ohio Department of Education's School Climate Guidelines.  It also gives information about positive youth development strategies such as the Developmental Assets, Character Education and Social and Emotional Learning.
